TMT effectively addresses the data entry problem: Patients may enter information at home on the Internet or on a laptop in the waiting room using check boxes and simple text boxes. Physicians also may record office visit findings using simple, web-enabled, CPT-code-specific templates that do not impose a computer-determined decision tree.

A brief (usually 1-2 pages) medical summary is printed for physician review when the patient is seen. Studies have shown that patients often get flustered when they visit their doctor and forget items that they wanted to discuss. Studies have also shown that doctors can make more effective use of the limited time available if they have a 1-page summary available for their review.

If and when you want to move to a more integrated, full-function computer system, we can work with you to map your TMT Computer Office database to the database of your preferred full-function EMR system and to US national interoperability standards when these emerge (probably an XML system with some combination of the CCR and HL-7 competing standards). Although we don't endorse particular EMR systems, we do maintain a database of compatibility between systems and the ease of database transfer from the TMT Computer Office.
